B-Tech in Biotechnology Course Fascinating Aspirants Worldwide

Biotechnology is a combination of Biology and Technology and is an applied science.  In simpler terms, the study of biotechnology is concerned with using the property of living organisms to produce desired products. Since, it is a research based field, most of the work is carried out at laboratories and research institutes.

For admission in a B tech in bio Technology College , students must have passed 10+2 with physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology as major subjects. Also, he/she must have qualified the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E).

The job opportunities in the field are endless. Graduates can seek employment in chemical and textile industries, pharmaceutical firms, research laboratories, and agricultural sectors to name a few. Besides, if a person is looking for a more consistent job, he/she must apply for the university teaching jobs, can seek employment in governments owned research firms.

Professionals can also look for jobs in private sectors food processing firms or aquaculture and can also become science writer in any of the print, broadcasting and digital media.

Lab technician, research scientists, teachers/professors, research associates, science writers, bio-technologists, quality control officers and sales representatives are some of the job profiles on which a B-Tech student can be hired for.

To improve job prospects further, aspirants can also pursue higher level programmes such as M-Tech in Biotechnology or perhaps MBA in bio technology from eminent colleges or universities. Both the courses will help you gain in-depth knowledge of the subject and provide the confidence required to face the competitive scenario in the industry.

Moving on to the remunerations, Bio Technology is undoubtedly a promising and rewarding career option. The salary package of a bio technologists working in research companies or in private sector industry is generally according to the government standards.

Professionals appointed in corporate houses and industries earn handsome salaries whereas a graduate trainee in this sector earns somewhere between INR 15,000-20,000 per month. Candidates working in private organizations also get decent salaries according to their experience in the industry. However, newly passed IITian's, working in a corporate sector can get an initial salary ranging from INR 70,000-80,000 per annum.
