A few years ago I saw a survey about what is the most frustrating thing you can encounter in the office.
There were suggestions on anything from irritating colleagues to incompetent boss to choose between.
Surprisingly the most common problem people faced and were frustrated about is a badly or non-working printer.
The good news is that it's easy to solve almost all print quality problems if you just start from the right point.
Determine from where the problem starts: Printer or your Computer This is the most important step you will make and surprisingly many persons don't understand that you must determine from where your problem starts.
You can change your printer driver settings until end of time if there is a problem with the printer.
So always start to check the printer and after that check driver settings and applications on your computer.
Print Printer Settings Page In the printer settings page you will quickly find out if you are running low on any supplies this is one of the most common problems when facing print quality problems.
Some of your supplies are simply low or empty.
You will find out how to print your printer settings page in your user guide that is usually available on your printer manufacturer's home page If your supplies are running low you probably need to change some of them and see if your problem remains.
Remember that the indicators are not exact science on printers so if it says toner left 2% you might very well need to change the toner.
A lot of Printer manufactures has warranty on their supplies so if you can proof to them that you changed a printer supply when there was 50% left of it according to your printer settings page you can very well just call them, most manufacturers will send you a new supply in that case.
Print Quality Page If your Supplies status looks good the next thing to determine is how your print quality pages looks, this is something that you can find in your printer manual how to print.
Remember these pages should not be printed from your printer driver, these pages should be printed directly from the printer.
If the quality looks bad you might have a more complex problem and you likely need a technician to visit you to solve your problem.
If your pages look fine then it's probably something to do with your computer 4.
Print driver test page and from different applications If you have not found any problem yet it's probably something that has to do with your driver printer settings.
If you are using a high end printer you have probably an option to choose between PCL Printer drivers or postscript drivers try both if the problem is tricky.
Try to print from different applications to see if the problem remains or if it has to do with a certain application.
The final tips here is to test to print to same printer from a different computer to see if the problem remains.
Use Quality Paper When printing it's very important to use quality paper for optimal results.
